The Thief and the Monkey
The Thief and the Monkey
Once upon a time, in a bright and beautiful kingdom, there lived a kind king and his tiny monkey helper.
The monkey loved the king so much that he stayed awake every night, sitting by the king’s bed to protect him.
One quiet night, a thief sneaked into the palace. He made a little hole in the wall and—oh no!—the hole opened right into the king’s bedroom!
The thief peeked inside and saw the king sleeping… and the monkey guarding him with a shiny little dagger. The monkey wasn’t dangerous, just loyal. He wanted to keep the king safe from anything!
Just then, tiny ants began falling from the ceiling onto the king’s chest. They tickled him, and he scratched in his sleep.
The monkey saw the ants, jumped up, and raised the dagger.
“Oh! I’ll stop these ants!” he thought.
But the thief shouted:
“Stop! You’ll hurt the king!”
The king woke up in surprise and moved just in time.
After hearing what happened, the king forgave the thief for saving him.
He hugged his monkey too—he still loved him. But from then on, he let the monkey rest in a shiny golden cage while the king slept… just to keep everyone safe.
And that is the end of the tale of The Thief and the Monkey.
The story teaches that good intentions are not enough without wisdom. The monkey loves the king but almost harms him through impulsive action. True protection requires careful thinking, and even those who make mistakes can still do something right.
